European shares rose on Monday morning, with banks in the lead. In the sector, HSBC Holdings shares rose 2.8% after it announced a 97% take-up rate of its rights issue, while Barclays shares jumped 4.6%. Elsewhere, shares of supermarket group J. Sainsbury jumped 4.3% after it was upgraded to overweight from neutral by J.P. Morgan. The U.K. FTSE 100 index climbed 1.2% to 4,079.00, the German DAX 30 index rose 1.3% to 4,442.36 and the French CAC-40 index advanced 1.3% ti 2,996.78.
