MW: ECB's Trichet says will act to restore confidence
The European Central Bank's President Jean-Claude Trichet said Friday that the ECB would do what was necessary to restore confidence in the global economy. Trichet said the central bank would decide on non-standard policy steps in May, but that it was important not to create expectations, Reuters reported. Following the news, the euro fell to $1.3101 after trading as high as the $1.32 range earlier.
