ZWY: DGCX Says Rupee-Dlr Futures Volumes Up Yr To Date

1115 GMT [Zawya Dow Jones]--The Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange says a total of 6,015 Indian rupee-U.S. dollar futures worth $241 million were traded at the exchange year-to-date, an increase of 34% compared with the trading volume in the same period in 2008. "We have seen increased interest from market participants in the Indian rupee-dollar futures contract in recent months," says Malcolm Wall Morris, DGCX chief executive. Adds that recent volatility in the Indian rupee compared to the dollar has been as high as 40%, driving interest in the contract by businesses and individuals seeking ways of managing currency risks. DGCX Indian rupee futures for April 28 settlement are trading down 0.13% at $198.50 per 100 Indian Rupees. (OKL)
