MW: U.S. stocks start up, crude fuels energy shares
U.S. stocks opened higher Wednesday after a two-day string of losses, with rising crude prices supporting energy shares and investors finding some comfort spots in weaker-than-expected economic data. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 64.04 points to 8,080.99. The S&P 500 Index climbed 7.37 points to 862.53, while the technology-laden Nasdaq Composite rose 16.48 points to stand at 1,690.29.
