RTRS: US July copper falls to 2-week low on retail sales drop
U.S. copper futures fell sharply on Wednesday following release of U.S. retail sales reading that came in below expectations in April.
Copper for July delivery HGN9 tumbled to $2.0150 a lb on the New York Mercantile Exchange's COMEX, a level last seen on April 30.
The U.S. Department of Commerce reported retails sales were down 0.4 percent in April compared with a consensus forecast of unchanged. The March reading was revised down to a 1.3 percent decline versus the 1.2 percent drop reported previously. (Reporting by Carole Vaporean; Editing by John Picinich)
