Crude oil futures turned lower early on Wednesday, after the government reported a bigger than expected drop in retail sales in April, rekindling concerns about consumption and oil demand. Crude for June delivery was last down 6 cents, or 0.1%, to $58.80 a barrel. Crude oil traded higher in early trade, after American Petroleum Institute late Tuesday said crude inventories had fallen by 3.1 million in the latest week. Analysts had expected an increase.
