European shares moved higher on Friday, with gains from mineral extractors fronting the advance. Shares of Rio Tinto (RTP 170.21, -4.92, -2.81%) (UK:RIO 2,800, +142.00, +5.34%) rose 5.8% and shares of Vedanta Resources (UK:VED 1,549, +56.00, +3.75%) climbed 4%. Both companies were upgraded by Goldman Sachs. The U.K. FTSE 100 index rose 0.7% to 4,373.57, the German DAX 30 index climbed 0.7% to 4.936.48 and the French CAC-40 index rose 0.7% tp 3,241.04. The pan-European Dow Jones Stoxx 600 index rose 0.1% to 207.84.
