ET; Select base metals recover on better global cues
Base metals prices, led by copper rebound higher up by Rs 2 per kg in the national capital today on the back of better global cues.
Increased offtake by consuming industries also supported the recovery trend in the base metal prices.
Market analysts attributed recovery in base metal prices to better than-expected economic data after the US consumer confidence soared in May to its highest level in eight months as the strain on the labour market showed some signs of easing, boosted investors&aposhopes of a bottoming for the US economy.
In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper super D rod, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap gained Rs 2 each to Rs 269, Rs 291, Rs 292 and Rs 247 per kg respectively.
Lead ingot and imported inched up by Rs one each at Rs 87 and Rs 102 per kg respectively while zinc ingot traded higher by the same margin at Rs 91 per kg.
In line with a firming general trend, nickel(4x4) edged up by Rs 2 to Rs 679-839 per kg.
