TH: Base metals extend gains
 
NEW DELHI: Copper and other base metals Wednesday extended gains in the national capital and closed Rs 2 per kg higher on increased buying by stockists influenced by firming global trend.

Trading sentiment remained firm after copper in global markets climbed to the highest in almost eight months, as equities surged and the dollar weakened, boosting the appeal of the metal as a currency hedge.

At LME, three-month delivery copper surged 1.7 per cent to 5,260.25 dollar a tonne, the highest since October 15. In the national capital,copper wire scrap, copper super d rod, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were remained in demand and added ano therRs 2 each to Rs 281, Rs 303, Rs 304 and Rs 259 per kg respectively.

Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported also traded higher by the same margin at Rs 98, Rs 92 and Rs 107 per kg respectively.
