NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Gold and silver futures fell Monday as the U.S. dollar rose against most of its major rivals, reducing the precious metals' investment appeal. The greenback strengthened after Russia said the nation has full confidence in the U.S. currency. In early North American electronic trading, August gold fell $6.90, or 0.7%, to $933.80 an ounce, while July silver lost 51.5 cents, or 3.5%, to $14.36 an ounce.
