LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares climbed in early trading, with Lloyds Banking Group (UK:LLOY 60.00, +4.45, +8.01%) (LYG 3.41, -0.12, -3.40%) up 6.2% after it said that it expects to report a profit for 2010. Rival Royal Bank of Scotland (UK:RBS 44.01, +1.93, +4.60%) advanced 5.3% and Barclays (UK:BARC 358.70, +5.80, +1.64%) shares gained 2%. Overall, the U.K. FTSE 100 index advanced 0.3% to 5,661.99, the German DAX index rose 0.3% to 6,029.37 and the French CAC-40 index climbed 0.4% to 3,952.92. |
