Crude oil futures continued to trade below $82 as the US dollar gained sharply against the Euro on Greece tensions.
U.S. stock futures on Friday pointed to a re-run of the prior aimless session. S&P 500 futures fell eight-tenths of a point to 1,160.50 and Nasdaq 100 futures slipped three-quarters of a point to 1,941.00. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 6 points.
Friday's session could be impacted by quadruple witching, when contracts for stock index futures, stock index options, stock options and single stock futures all expire.
NYMEX crude futures are trading down 42 cents at $ 81.78 per barrel in the late electronic session today. It fell to as low as $ 81.50.
The oil futures had surged to above $83 levels after OPEC kept its output quota unchanged on Wednesday and since then it has been trading in a very narrow band.
MCX April crude oil is down more than Rs 20 at Rs 3741 per barrel. It slipped to as low as Rs 3728 and a break of that may take it to 3690 levels.
