LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares lost ground for the third straight session on Monday. Drugmaker Sanofi-Aventis (FR:SAN 56.57, +0.01, +0.02%) declined 1.9% after a report that the commercial launch of one of its drugs could be under threat, while interdealer-broker Icap (UK:IAP 394.50, 0.00, 0.00%) shares declined 1.8% after it said it intends to shut some of its cash equities operations. The U.K. FTSE 100 index declined 0.4% to 5,629.92, the German DAX index lost 0.3% to 5,963.83 and the French CAC-40 index lost 0.4% to 3,908.99.
