PT: Rupee eases by 9 paise against dollar in early trade

Mumbai, Mar 25 (PTI) The Indian rupee eased further by 9 paise in early trade today for the fifth straight day on capital outflows by foreign funds and dollar's gain against other Asian currencies.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the rupee depreciated by 9 paise to 45.69 a dollar.

The rupee closed lower by 2 paise at 45.60/61 a dollar in the previous session on Tuesday. The forex market remained closed yesterday on account of "Ram Navami".

Forex dealers said capital outflows by foreign funds from equities and dollar's gains against other Asian currencies, mainly weighed on the rupee sentiment.

Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange index, Sensex, fell by 61.16 points, or 0.35 per cent to 17,389.l86 points in the opening trade today.
