LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares edged higher on Thursday with U.K. retailer Next (UK:NXT 2,180, +109.00, +5.27%) gaining 4.3% and German airline Air Berlin (DE:AB1 4.20, +0.14, +3.37%) advancing 1.9% after reporting results. Still, Vodafone Group (UK:VOD 146.75, -2.15, -1.44%) (VOD 22.05, -0.13, -0.59%) shares fell 1.4% after the wireless telecom firm was cut to underweight from overweight at Morgan Stanley. The U.K. FTSE 100 index rose 0.1% to 5,682.57, the German DAX index advanced 0.1% to 6,044.99 while the French CAC-40 index moved up 0.2% to 3,958.70. |
