On Friday (26 March 2010), the gold prices declined on the bullion market due to subdued local buying despite firm trend in overseas market. Silver recovered on fresh demand from industrial users.
In Mumbai, standard gold declined by Rs 20 for 10 gm to Rs 16,290 and pure gold declined by Rs 25 for 10 gm to Rs 16,370. Silver spot increased by Rs 90 per kg to Rs 26,870.
In Chennai, bar silver was traded at Rs 27,085 and retail silver at Rs 29.00 per gm. The standard gold was traded at Rs 16,340, while the retail ornament gold was traded at Rs 1,520 per gm.
