Petrol prices have been cut by at least one major oil company in time for Easter.
BP said on Wednesday night it had decreased the price of all grades of petrol by 5 cents per litre at company operated outlets from 5pm on Thursday.
"We are delighted to be able to lead a decrease at the pump today and pass on a significant saving for Kiwi motorists this long weekend," BP managing director Mike McGuinness says.
Prices at most BP-owned service stations have dropped to 175.9 cents per litre for unleaded 91. There was no change to diesel.
