The US dollar briefly touched the upper 94 yen zone for the first time in more than seven months in Tokyo after solid US job data issued last week.
The dollar traded at JPY 94.53-54 against Friday's close of JPY 94.56-66 in New York and JPY 93.93-96 in Tokyo.

The greenback climbed to JPY 94.78 at one point in the morning, its highest level since August 24 last year.
The US Labour Department said Friday nonfarm payrolls rose by 162,000 in March for the biggest increase since March 2007, prompting speculation that the Federal Reserve would hike interest rates during the board meeting later Monday.
The euro was quoted at USD 1.3483-3486 and JPY 127.46-52 at 5 p.m. versus USD 1.3500-3510 and JPY 127.65-75 in New York and USD 1.3552-3555 and JPY 127. 32-36 in Tokyo late Friday.
