PTI: Gold falls for 3rd day on heavy selling amid weak global cues

NEW DELHI: Gold fell for the third straight day losing Rs 15 to trade at Rs 17,010 per ten grams in the bullion market here today on sustained selling amid a weak global trend.

Standard gold and ornaments remained weak for the third day in a row and shed Rs 15 each to Rs 17,010 and Rs 16,860 per ten grams, respectively. They have lost Rs 75 in the last two trading sessions.

However, sovereign remained around previous levels of Rs 14,050 per eight-gram piece.

Traders said said selling pressure amid reports of a weak trend in the overseas markets pulled down gold prices.

Gold in the global markets, which normally set a price trend on the domestic front, fell by USD 1.42 to USD 1,153.93 an ounce.

On the other hand, silver ready and weekly-based delivery remained in demand and advanced further by Rs 100 and Rs 180 to Rs 28,100 and Rs 27,870 per kg, respectively.

Meanwhile, silver coins traded at previous levels of Rs 33,600 for buying and Rs 33,700 for selling of 100 pieces.
