NEW DELHI: Copper and other base metals recovered by up to Rs 2 per kg on the local non-ferrous metal market on Tuesday largely in tandem with firming global trend. Increased offtake by consuming industries also supported the uptrend.
Marketmen said fresh buying by stockists and reports of firming trend at the London Metal Exchange mainly led to rise in base metal prices.
Meanwhile, copper rose 0.6 per cent to 7,742 dollar, nickel 0.7 per cent to 26,880 dollar and lead 0.8 per cent to 2,253 dollar a tonne on the LME.
In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 371, Rs 392 and Rs 350 per kg while nickel (4x4) traded higher by the same margin at Rs 917-1,032 per kg.
Lead ingot and imported and zinc ingot were also traded higher by Rupee one each at Rs 119, Rs 121 and Rs 123 per kg.
