SMR: Commodities daily update: precious metals, base metals, crude oil (April 20, 2010)
 
- Turkish jewellery exports are expected to rise by 20 percent this year, while gold bullion exports may drop sharply, Cihan Kamer, the chairman of leading jeweller Atasay, told today.

- Australia's biggest gold mine, Kalgoorlie's Super Pit, started reopening on Tuesday after being evacuated and closed due to an earthquake, the mine's owner said.

- Smelter treatment and refining charges for a tonne of copper concentrate have dropped about a third in the past two months on tight supply, traders and smelter officials said today.

- Japan aims to sell several thousand kilolitres of crude oil from its strategic reserves in the year that started on April 1 as part of a plan to change the types of petroleum it holds in stockpiles.

- Iran aims to boost oil production capacity at its offshore Lavan field by around 5,000 barrels per day (bpd) during the 2010-11 year, the Oil Ministry's website SHANA reported today.
