Global platinum production would grow this year compared with a 2 percent decline last year, consultancy GFMS said yesterday.
South Africa supplies close to two-thirds of the world's platinum, and it would churn out more platinum and palladium by side-stepping problems that crippled output last year, GFMS said in a survey report. South Africa's platinum output fell to 4.6 million ounces last year following the closure of high-cost mines, chronic power shortages and the strike at Impala Platinum.
