LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares jumped in early trading on Monday, with miners and banks in the lead. Of companies reporting earnings, Air Liquide (FR:AI 88.37, +0.27, +0.31%) shares gained 1.7% after the French industrial gases firm reported an uptick in first-quarter sales while Dutch navigation device maker TomTom (NL:TOM2 5.99, -0.02, -0.33%) surged 8.3% after it swung to a profit. The U.K. FTSE 100 index rose 0.9% to 5,777.46, the German DAX index moved up 1.1% to 6,326.22 and the French CAC-40 index advanced 1.2% to 3,999.37.
