LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares ticked higher on Thursday, as earnings from Siemens (DE:SIE 73.20, +0.97, +1.34%) , up 1.3%, and Unilever (UK:ULVR 1,959, +34.00, +1.77%) , up 1.8%, helped offset ongoing worries about the finances of Greece and other peripheral European countries. The U.K. FTSE 100 index rose 0.4% to 5,607.61, the German DAX index climbed 0.4% to 6,109.79 and the French CAC-40 index rose 0.3% to 3,796.51.
