RTRS: PRECIOUS-Gold bounces from one-week low; ETF hits record
 
SINGAPORE, May 6 (Reuters) - Gold ticked higher on Thursday as volatile currencies spurred safe haven buying, while holdings on the world's biggest bullion-backed ETF hit another record on fears that the euro-zone debt crisis could spread.

FUNDAMENTALS

* Spot gold was at $1,175.80 an ounce, up $1.60 from New York's notional close on Wednesday, when it dropped to a one-week low before regaining some strength. Gold rallied to this year's peak around $1,191 an ounce on Tuesday.

* U.S. gold futures for June delivery added $2.0 an ounce to $1,176.9.

* The world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, SPDR Gold Trust , said its holdings stood at a record of 1,166.002 tonnes as of May 5, up from 1,159.002 tonnes in the previous business day. [GOL/SPDR]

MARKET NEWS

* The euro was pinned near one-year lows against the U.S. dollar on Thursday, trying to find its footing after falling through key support levels as concerns about the sovereign debt crisis in the euro zone mounted. [USD/]

* U.S. crude futures edged above $80 a barrel on Thursday, a day after falling below that level for the first time in six weeks amid fears that Greece's debt crisis could spread. [O/R]

* U.S. stocks sagged on Wednesday as more signs emerged that the fallout from the Greek debt crisis could spread to bigger European economies. [.N]
