LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares edged lower in early trading on Friday, the last session of a volatile week. Banks fell again, with Societe Generale (FR:GLE 37.62, -1.02, -2.60%) shares down 1.2%, and miners were also weak, with Randgold Resources (UK:RRS 6,100, -96.25, -1.56%) (GOLD 88.87, -1.90, -2.09%) shares down 1.3%. Overall, the U.K. FTSE 100 index declined 0.5% to 5,406.13, the German DAX index lost 0.4% to 6,227.08 and the French CAC-40 index lost 0.7% to 3,703.98. |
