United States Dollar (USD) in Euro (EUR) – 1 USD = 0.8210 EUR
The Eurozone currency showed early strength in the US Dollar Euro Exchange Rate (USDEUR) due to the continuing bailout process for Greece gaining momentum. The first tranche of money was paid to the failing economy – some EUR14.5 billion – which will allow Greece to pay down in full the EUR8.5 billion worth of bonds that mature today.
US Dollar Euro Exchange Rate
More news from Germany caused any resurgence for the single currency in the US Dollar Euro Exchange Rate (USDEUR) to be short lived, however.
Late in the day an announcement by the German government regarding a ban on short-selling of some financial products meant more pain for the Euro, as fears of increased regulation hurt confidence in the credit markets.
This meant that the Euro was down at 4-year lows against the dollar, and they show no sign of appreciation in the near-term. The latest salvo by the German government in the war against credit disasters did nothing to restore strength in the currency, but we will be checking the US Dollar Euro exchange rate (USDEUR) for movement in the next few days.
