LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares rallied in early trading on Wednesday, taking back some steep losses from the previous session as investors picked up shares of battered banks and miners, with copper miner Vedanta Resources (UK:VED 2,074, 0.00, 0.00%) up 2.1%. Of companies updating investors, Burberry shares (UK:BRBY 612.50, 0.00, 0.00%) jumped 5% after the retailer swung to a profit. The French CAC-40 index jumped 1.8% to 3,391.65, the U.K. FTSE 100 index climbed 1.4% to 5,008.80, and the German DAX index rose 1.1% to 5,734.02. |
