MW: Energy stocks fall back, hold on to week's gain

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Energy stocks fell back on Friday, but held on to gains for the week, as the broad market dropped on weaker-than-expected May retail sales figures in the U.S. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA 10,099, -73.46, -0.72%) shed about 75 points to 10,098. The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI 927.98, -4.85, -0.52%) fell 0.5% to 928. The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG 520.75, -4.15, -0.79%) dropped 0.7% to 521. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index (OSX 172.73, +10.11, +6.22%) fell 0.7% to 171. BP PLC (BP 33.64, +0.86, +2.63%) rose 2.4% to $33.56.
