FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) -- European equities dropped in opening trading on Tuesday, tracking declines in Asian stocks. Germany's DAX index (DX:DAX 6,157, +86.62, +1.43%) dropped 1.6% to 6,058 points and France's CAC-40 (FR:PX1 3,576, +56.72, +1.61%) index fell 1.7% to 3,516 points. The Stoxx Europe 600 index (ST:SXXP 251.36, +3.03, +1.22%) declined 1.2% in early trading. Shares of Siemens AG (DE:SIE 76.20, 0.00, 0.00%) dropped 1.7%, even as the German conglomerate said that it expected strong profitability in the fiscal third quarter. |
