LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares moved higher on Tuesday, with BP (UK:BP. 348.95, +15.65, +4.70%) shares gaining for the second day in the oil and gas sector and miners advancing amid higher metal futures. Companies updating investors on progress Tuesday included home builder Persimmon (UK:PSN 363.10, +14.60, +4.19%) , up 3.6%, and online gaming firm PartyGaming (UK:PRTY 228.30, +7.50, +3.40%) , up 4.1%. Overall, the U.K. FTSE 100 index rose 0.6% to 4,853.20, the German DAX index climbed 0.6% tp 5,848.64 and the French CAC-40 index rose 0.7% to 3,354.32. |
