RTRS; U.S. crude up over $2, cheers Wall St high opening
NEW YORK July 13 (Reuters) - U.S. crude oil futures rose further and were up more than $2 on Tuesday as oil investors cheered a strong opening on Wall Street on the heels of robust second quarter earnings results from some bellwether companies.
Earlier, crude oil futures rose sharply on higher demand growth forecast by the International Energy Agency.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange at 9:38 a.m. EDT (1338 GMT), crude for August delivery CLQ0 traded up $2.05, or 2.74 percent, at $77 a barrel, near an early peak of $77.13 which was the loftiest since June 29's intraday high of $78.32. (Reporting by Gene Ramos; Editing by John Picinich)
