RTRS: Euro extends gains vs dollar on Philly Fed data
July 15 (Reuters) - The euro extended gains against the dollar on Thursday, nearing $1.29 for the first time in two months after the Philadelphia Federal Reserve's business conditions index fell in July. [ID:nEAH104F00]
Weakness in the Philadelphia's Fed's mid-Atlatnic district added to concern about the U.S. economy, which has been heightened in recent days by a clutch of disappointing inflation, manufacturing and retail sales data.
The euro rose to $1.2895, up 1.2 percent on the day EUR= while the dollar fell 1.1 percent to 87.42 yen JPY=. (Editing by Theodore d'Afflisio)
