TH: Gold prices witness minor changes

KATHMANDU: Fluctuations in the dollar valuation through the week in the international market left its impact on the gold trading price in the domestic market. Gold this week (July 11-16) opened at Rs 30,305 per 10 gram and closed at a lower trading price of Rs 30,265 per 10 gram on Friday.

According to Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (NEGOSIDA), gold trading price this week was the lowest at Rs 30,220 per 10 gram on Tuesday while the highest price this week observed in the domestic market was Rs 30,305 per 10 gram that was the trading price of gold on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Gold this week closed at Rs 30,265 per 10 gram on Friday. Gold has been stuck in a $100 range between $1,165 and $1,265 since the start of May, with the band narrowing further to $30, between $1,190 and $1,220, over the past two weeks, said the agencies. The market has drawn support from euro zone sovereign debt problems, concerns about the global economy and a cautious stance towards risk-taking, all of which highlight bullion’s appeal as a hedge.

Meanwhile, silver this week opened at Rs 476 per 10 gram while closed at Rs 483 per 10 gram on Friday that is silver closed at Rs 7 per 10 gram more than its opening price on Sunday. Silver opening at Rs 476 per 10 gram remained at the same price till Tuesday while increased with Rs 4 per 10 gram on Wednesday with its trading price fixed at Rs 480 per 10 gram.

Silver later increased again by Rs 3 per 10 gram on Thursday and was priced at Rs 483 per 10 gram and it closed at the same price this Friday, said NEGOSIDA data.
