RTRS: U.S. crude futures up $1 as equities rise lifts
NEW YORK July 19 (Reuters) - U.S. crude oil futures rose more than $1 on Monday, lifted by stronger equities markets after U.S. stocks opened higher on Wall Street.
Crude futures bounced higher after a choppy start to trading as oil futures try to break a string of three straight lower settlements amid concerns about slowing economic recovery and gloomy consumer sentiment.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange, August crude CLQ0 rose $1.66, or 2.18 percent, to $77.67 a barrel by 9:36 a.m. EDT (1436 GMT), trading from $75.50 to $77.69. (Reporting by Robert Gibbons)
