Nickel prices moved up by Rs 8.40, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 966.40 per kg in futures trade today on good demand from alloy-makers at spot markets amid firming trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in July shot up by Rs 8.40, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 966.40 per kg, with an open interest of 9,391 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August jumped by Rs 7.80, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 975.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 4,363 lots.
Market analysts said strong demand from alloy-makers, and firming trend at the London Metal Exchange pushed up nickel prices in futures trade here.
Meanwhile, nickel gained 0.8 per cent to $20,705 metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
