HUNTINGTON — The average pump price for gasoline has surpassed $2.80 in Huntington’s metro area, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
The metro area’s average stood at $2.819, as of Thursday morning the report states. That price was up across the board — 4.8 cents from Wednesday, 6.2 from a week ago, 5.1 cents from last month and 21.2 cents from a year ago.
Speedway gasoline stations reported actual pump prices between $2.749 and $2.859 in Huntington alone.
The company also reported a wide range in Ashland. There prices varied from $2.629 to $2.849. The company reported prices at $2.850 in Ceredo, Ironton and South Point, Ohio.
AAA analysts mentioned higher crude oil prices, higher demand and the approaching Labor Day holiday. They also mentioned a climb for the stock market.
West Virginia’s state average stood at $2.813 as of Thursday morning. That was up nearly one cent. The average ranked 15th most expensive when compared to other states and the District of Columbia.
