As the economy continues to fluctuate, so have the prices of crude oil and gasoline.
Crude oil settled Friday at $80.70 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, up $1.75 from a week earlier.
Meanwhile, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in Florida was up a nickel, to $2.73. Prices are higher in South Florida, with West Palm Beach coming in at $2.82 a gallon. In Miami, the average price is close to $2.80, while in Fort Lauderdale, the average price is $2.77.
“The bleak economic reports are a good indicator the price of crude oil may decline next week, since fewer jobs are being created and demand is slowing,” said Jessica Brady, manager of AAA Public Relations, in a news release.
