NEW DELHI: Silver prices gained Rs 37, or 0.13 per cent, to Rs 28,976 per kg in futures trade on Friday, as speculators enlarged their positions on hopes of pick up in demand amid firming global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, silver for September-month gained Rs 37, or 0.13 per cent, to Rs 28,976 per kg, with an open interest of 21,721 lots.
The metal for delivery in December-month also traded higher by Rs 29, or 0.10 per cent, to Rs 29,130 per kg, with a business volume of 3,111 lots.
Marketmen said speculators increased positions on rising demand in the spot market and reports of firming trend in global markets mainly pushed up silver prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver traded higher by Rs 0.50 per cent to USD 18.14 an ounce in Asian region.
