LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares edged higher on Tuesday morning, with miners advancing and Dutch insurance group Aegon (NL:AGN 4.53, +0.21, +4.74%) up 4.1% after it announced a timetable for repaying state aid. The U.K. FTSE 100 index advanced 0.1% to 5,282.43, the German DAX index rose 0.4% to 6,133.46 and the French CAC-40 index rose 0.5% to 3,617.14.
