TH: Oil spill requires road cleanup

DuBOIS - Area firefighters pulled out their brooms for an emergency Wednesday afternoon.
A coal truck owned by Samuel Brink Trucking of La Jose was northbound on Route 255 in front of Wendy's and Wolf's Auto Sales at 1:30 p.m. when the engine blew up and dumped 30 gallons of oil on the road, along with parts of the motor.
According to Sam Marrara, Sandy Township Emergency Management director, the township fire department was called. Oklahoma fire Chief John Hallowell and the township EMA coordinated efforts at the scene.
The fire department used 27 50-pound bags of kitty litter and PennDOT used 11⁄2 tons of sand in the cleanup.
Oklahoma and West Sandy fire companies and Sandy Township police were on scene.
Cleanup was done by the township road crew and PennDOT.
Marrara said traffic was restricted to one lane for several hours and cleanup continued until after 4 p.m.
The name of the driver was not released.
