RTRS: Gold dips as dollar firms; haven appeal underpins
* Gold XAU= bid at $1,226.50 an ounce at 1515 GMT against
$1,230.10 late in New York on Thursday.
* Bullion slips below $1,230 an ounce as the dollar strengthens
more than 1 percent versus the euro, but demand for the metal as
a haven from currency market volatility and economic uncertainty
firmly underpins prices.
* Silver XAG= bid at $17.88 an ounce against $18.24.
* Platinum XPT= bid at $1,513 an ounce versus $1,520.50.
* Palladium XPD= bid at $471.83 an ounce against $481.
