By David Merritt

Sept. 8 (Bloomberg) -- European shares rebounded, reversing earlier losses, as gains by BP Plc and Sanofi-Aventis offset concern about the strength of the region’s banks. U.S. futures advanced.

The benchmark Stoxx Europe 600 Index gained 0.5 percent to 261.04 at 12:01 p.m. in London, after earlier falling as much as 0.4 percent. BP gained 1.8 percent, while Sanofi advanced 2.6 percent. A guage of bank stocks declined, led by National Bank of Greece SA, which tumbled 7.5 percent.

Futures on the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 0.2 percent.
