CN: Euro up slightly against dollar to $1.3087 in morning European trading ahead of Fed meeting
BERLIN (AP) - The 16-nation euro is up slightly against the dollar in morning European trading ahead of a key meeting of U.S. Federal Reserve policymakers.
The common currency bought $1.3087 early Tuesday, up from $1.3062 late the night before in New York.
The British pound is up to $1.5577 from $1.5545, while the dollar is down to 85.56 Japanese yen from 85.77 yen the night before.
Traders were looking ahead to the Fed's meeting later in the day to discuss interest rates. Analysts say there is a growing expectation that the central bank's rate-setting committee could relaunch programs to buy Treasury and mortgage bonds — lowering rates on such debt to stimulate the economy.
