RTTN: Indian Rupee Declines To 2-day Low Against Dollar
(RTTNews) - The Indian rupee slipped to a 2-day low against the U.S. dollar in early deals on Thursday on weak regional equities.
After a firm start, the Indian market slipped into the red today, tracking lackluster global cues, as investors look ahead to data on U.S. weekly jobless claims and existing home sales due later in the day. Investors also await domestic data on food and fuel inflation to get clues on the direction of interest rates.
India's benchmark BSE Sensex is currently down nearly 65.63 points or 0.3% at 19,875.70 and the National Stock Exchange's S&P CNX Nifty is drifting lower by 32.55 points or 0.5% to 5,958.20.
At present, the rupee is worth 45.7250 against the dollar. If the Indian currency weakens further, it may likely target the 45.84 level.
