MW: Nat gas extends losses on higher supplies data

By Claudia Assis
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Natural-gas futures added to losses after a government report showed a higher-than-expected rise in inventories. Natural gas for November delivery lost 14 cents, or 3.7%, to $3.82 per million British thermal units. The Energy Information Administration said natural-gas supplies rose 74 billion cubic feet for the week ended Sept. 24. Analysts surveyed by Platts had expected an increase of 67 billion to 71 billion cubic feet for the week. The rise compares with 65 billion cubic feet for the same week in 2009 and a five-year average of 67 billion cubic feet.
