NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude oil and gold futures stayed higher on Thursday, after the Labor Department said U.S. jobless claims fell 11,000 to 445,000 in the week ended Oct. 2. Economists polled by MarketWatch had expected claims to rise to 455,000. Crude oil futures for November delivery gained 41 cents, or 0.4%, to $83.64 a barrel. Gold for December delivery advanced $8, or 0.6%, to $1,356.10 an ounce.
