MW: Gold turns lower after hitting fresh record

By Ashley P. Lau
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures retreated after a morning rally Thursday, as the dollar bounced back from its lows following better-than-expected U.S. jobless claims figures. Gold for December delivery fell $4.10 to $1,343.60 an ounce an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Earlier in the session, bullion reached a record high, touching $1,366 an ounce in electronic trading. The precious metal's 0.3% drop in New York trading came as the dollar bounced back from its morning low.
