(RTTNews) - The Australian dollar gained some ground against its major opponents in early Monday New York deals, rising to as high as 0.9864 against the US dollar and 80.81 versus the yen before leveling off around 9:40 am ET.
The aussie that was worth 0.9857 against the greenback and 80.96 versus the yen at Friday's close is currently quoted at 0.9866 and 80.82, respectively.
The aussie also traded at 1.4132 against the euro and 1.3108 versus the NZ dollar at this time, up from a session's lows of 1.4191 and 1.3058, respectively. While the euro-aussie pair is currently worth near Friday's closing quote of 1.4136, whereas the aussie-kiwi pair is trading more than 40 pips from last week's close of 1.3058.
