BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- The Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF 14.61, -0.08, -0.51%) was lower by 0.3% at Tuesday's open as investors awaited the release of the minutes from the Federal Reserve's September meeting, set to cross in the afternoon. Stocks weakened while the dollar rose Tuesday following reports that China boosted its reserve requirements for some banks. Earnings season at the big U.S. banks kicks off Wednesday with results from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. (JPM 39.66, -0.07, -0.18%) .
